A little more about Affinityhub...
As a parent carer and Counselling Psychologist I realised that many parent carers may need emotional support at some point in their parental journey. Due to the many complex systems around families with a disabled child/adult and the feeling of being ‘different’ from other families it is not surprising that at times this can become overwhelming or distressing. It is important that support is tailored to their particular context and needs. This is why I set up Affinityhub.uk to signpost to emotional support, from organisations and private practitioners, who ‘get it’ and understand the world that we inhabit.

If you are looking for a counsellor I would suggest reading through the details of those listed. See what approach feels appropriate to you and then you can contact them to ask any queries you have, which may include the following:
– what do they charge
– do they have availability (at a time that suits you)
– what is their experience in relation to the difficulties you wish to discuss
– what is their cancellation policy
Research
I undertook doctoral research into the emotional wellbeing of parents of disabled children.
This led to the publication of my book Day by Day: Emotional wellbeing in parents of disabled children which is available here.
Supervision
I provide clinical and research supervision to other counsellors, therapist and psychologists. Further details are available here. I also provide mentoring to professionals who are balancing lived experience and their role (e.g., CEO of charity who is also a parent carer).
